SubtaskEditorReference

The subtask editor allows to decompose a task into a hierarchy of subtasks. It's similar to a spreadsheet in which rows could be nested.

New top level items can be created using the text field close to the Unspecified icon at the bottom of the table. Columns can be added using the text field at the end of the heading row.

Each row is composed of the following elements:

  • An editable title.
  • A tag list below the title.
  • A list of numeric value, one per column defined.
  • Unspecified Breakdown icon to create subelements. Once enabled, it will change for Unspecified and a text field will appear to add subelements.
  • Unspecified Delete icon to remove the row and its subtree.

Once the breakdown icon has been activated, a text field identified by the Unspecified icon is added below the subtask. It can be used to add sub-items, which have the same properties as top level items.

The entire interface can be used without using the mouse. Here is the list of shortcuts:

  • Arrow keys are used to nagigate the grid.
  • Ctrl-B places the focus on the field to add subitems for the selected subtask, will make it visible if required.
